Millions of homeowners could see themselves under financial strain when they return from a break during the Christmas period.
Such is the assertion of Halifax, as a new piece of research by the financial services firm indicates that some four million households are exposing themselves to burglaries over the upcoming festive season. According to the company, an estimated one in five Britons are set to go away over the course of Christmas and the new year. Out of these people, just over a third (37 per cent) are planning to visit family members, while some three per cent go abroad either in the search of some winter sun or to hit the ski slopes. Whatever they intend to do while away, however, travellers could find that a low-rate loan could help to meet the various transport costs that they will face.

The ardency to celebrate Christmas is so much so that air smells the aroma of flowers, eyes see celebrations all around and ears listen to the giggling sounds. Such a fervor is undying and will bring heaven on earth if the same continues for the rest of the year. There is cheerfulness and harmony, which penetrates deep into our souls so that we are refreshed and inspirited with all goodness. Xmas quotations rightly express the same celebratory buzz.

Mince pies (also known as “mince tarts”) are a traditional British sweet pastry eaten during the Christmas period.
The tradition dates back to the eleventh century when crusaders returning from the Holy Land brought back a variety of oriental spices and made pies with three spices (cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg) to symbolize the three gifts given to the infant Jesus by the Magi. Originally the pies were rectangular with a place for the Christ Child to be placed on top: the baby was removed and the pie eaten in celebration.

When it comes to Christmas and the holidays, nothing quite gets you in the mood to celebrate the way that music does. All it takes is that certain song to trigger a memory and you’re back in the kitchen with Grandma making sugar cookies or helping your Dad tug the pine tree through the door that seems to get smaller every year. What about the year that Brother buried himself and his sled into that huge snowdrift? They were all good times filled with hot chocolate and Christmas music shared in the kitchen and around the fireplace.

Santa really does exist, or at least his spirit exists among the volunteers of the Hugs and Hope Foundation for sick children. The club’s 3,000+ members are acting as Santa’s elves this holiday season and they’re making a difference in the lives of sick children who have never even met them before.
Hundreds of strangers all over the country and even throughout the world are reaching out to critically ill children and helping to bring a little more love and laughter into their lives.

An Advent wreath is a ring with four candles used by some Christians and churches to mark the passing of the holy season of Advent.
The candles are illuminated in succession on each of the four weeks (Saturday evenings or Sundays) of Advent. Some Advent wreaths have a fifth candle which is lit on Christmas Day to signify Christ’s birth. Advent wreaths are symbolic:
- The wreath represents God’s eternity.
- The first candle, known as “The Prophet’s Candle” signifies the hope of Jesus’ arrival.

Christmas time is a wonderful time to create memories with family traditions and a great tradition is to host an annual Christmas bake off.
At our house everyone looks forward to the first week of Christmas vacation, when we go into baking mode and spend 3-4 days baking our favorite Christmas cookies and candies! This tradition began for us back when I was first married and my father would invite all of us over to the house for a weekend of marathon baking.

Your June wedding and honeymoon are behind you. You and your new spouse have set budgets for how much you will spend for the Christmas season on each other and on friends and relatives. You even wisely started setting aside time and money to get those gifts before the crowds started invading the shopping malls and discount stores.
Suddenly, you realize that although you listed Christmas decorations on your original wedding registry, you only received two “Our first Christmas” ornaments. They are beautiful, but two ornaments won’t go very far in decorating.
