From what I read and see, many scrappers are turning away from the high-maintenance time consuming and expensive scrapbook page. I think one thing that has changed in the scrapbook industry is the number of scrappers who have time or even like to spend 2 hours (or even 2 days) on a single page. Most of us have figured out that we are buried under a growing mountain of photos. As my husband pointed out to me last week- digital photography has become a scrapper’s best friend AND worst enemy. I snap digital photos like there’s no tomorrow because I know I can print out ONLY the ones I actually want. However, because I take so many photos, I now have MORE good ones that I want to scrap. You can’t win! So, many of us are buckling down and turning away from the artistic side of scrapping and moving towards the “just get it done” side.

Thanksgiving is nearly here and once again you’re stuck with not only having to cook two turkeys, make sure that the stuffing is done right, supply enough snacks until dinner time and make sure that there is enough dinnerware for everyone…on top of all that you need to make sure that your relatives don’t start getting into arguments with each other. If you’re 55 or over, you now have a plethora of retirement living options. In anticipation of millions of baby boomers entering retirement within the next few years, new retirement communities are cropping up across the nation. These retirement communities are generally broken down into the following five categories:
• Active Adult Communities
Resembling resorts, these are generally gated, low maintenance homes, villas or condominiums designed to offer active adults everything they need to enjoy their retirement years. Units are often single-level and universally accessible. Amenities might include a clubhouse, health and fitness center, indoor pool and outdoor pool, 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, boat ramp/dock, movie theater, bowling alley and more. The choices are growing; today there are even RV and affordable manufactured home communities for active adults and communities for gays and lesbians.

Q: My neighbors are an elderly couple, and I’m growing increasingly concerned about them. The husband was recently brought to the hospital for the second time. His last hospitalization was because he fell and his wife wasn’t able to get him up. They have lived next door to me for many years and I know they don’t have any family nearby. Over the last few years I have noticed them both becoming frailer. I have brought meals to them, but I sense that they need more help than an occasional meal. In the past I have asked if there is anything they would like me to do - like grocery shopping, but they say, “No thank you.” I don’t want to be a pest, or disrespectful of their privacy, but I’m hoping I can encourage them to get some help. Do you have any suggestions on how to go about doing this without offending them?

Dance Dance Revolution has brought dance back to parties and video dance tapes are a terrific tool to have a rocking good party. Try incorporating video dance tapes into your next party.
Video dance tapes are a great way to highlight a party’s theme. Match the theme to a dance taught on video dance tapes. For example, when throwing a luau party a great video dance tapes would be instructional on how to hula dance. Make sure to take pictures of your guests wearing grass skirts and leis to scrapbook later.

Members of the elderly population are often hospitalized for injuries that often lead to a necessary care or even death. Because of this, it’s important for us to be aware of possible hazards that could cause injury to our elderly loved ones.
Clothing. While this doesn’t sound like a major concern, it is important to keep an eye on what our loved ones are wearing. This includes fit clothing that isn’t too long. Lightweight clothing that can be worn in layers is also a good idea. Shoes are important for preventing falls – they should have non-slip soles.

Having a baby is one of the most wonderful experiences in a woman’s life. Seeing the baby come out into the world is a wonderful miracle and we are left with a lifetime with our child. Something that isn’t as welcome is the additional weight that we tend to put on when we are pregnant, and the loss of pregnancy weight can be a difficult thing indeed. Most women desire to get back into their pre pregnancy weight, and sometimes less if they were not happy with the way they looked at that time. It is not an easy thing to lose the weight, no matter what anyone tells you, but it is possible if you follow some easy steps.
